For the record....

Father's Day Dinner.......

Run to the grocery store....... 30 minutes
Cook the potatoes, grill the steak
and shrimp, steam the green beans....... 45 minutes
Set the table, load our plates ....... 5 minutes
Eat....... 3 minutes
Amount of time at the table before
the kids starting fighting ....... 30 seconds
Wash the pots and pans, load the dishes....... 15 minutes

Happy Father's Day

Noone got here without a father. And noone's father was as good as mine. He was a quiet man and I have few memories of actual conversations with him. But I remember his smell (cigars and money), his presence (quiet), his wit (very silly) and his intelligence (PHD in Chemistry...can you top that?).

My children's father....my husband.....is a good man. He is a great provider, a great father and extrememly hard to shop for. He, like my father, always responds to "What do you want for your birthday/Christmas/Father's Day?" with "Nothing." So, in the tradition of gift giving around here....we will drag him into a store this weekend to pick out some clothes. Because that is what he wants, whether he knows it or not.

So to all the daddies out there or across the bridge, Happy Father's Day.
